LinkedIn Connection Request Limits in 2026 (Weekly, Notes & Messages)

By Wingflow team · Updated · 3 min read

How many connection requests can you send per week?

LinkedIn doesn't publish a weekly number. Its Help Center only says you can be restricted when "you've sent many invitations within a short amount of time" or when "many of your invitations have been ignored, left pending, or marked as spam" (LinkedIn Help).

In practice, people who send invitations every day report the same ceiling: about 100 a week for free and Premium accounts, and often more (150–200) on Sales Navigator (PhantomBuster, Expandi). Treat 100 as a safe planning number, not a guarantee.

Limit Free account Premium Source
Invitations per week ~100 (not published) ~100 (not published) Reported by practitioners
Personal notes per month 3 Unlimited LinkedIn Help
Note length 200 characters 300 characters LinkedIn Help
Total connections 30,000 30,000 LinkedIn Help
Re-invite after withdrawing Up to 3 weeks Up to 3 weeks LinkedIn Help

Does Premium raise the limit?

No. LinkedIn says "all LinkedIn members (Basic and Premium) are subject to invitation limits." What Premium changes is the note: unlimited personalized invitations of up to 300 characters, instead of 3 a month at 200 characters.

Some older LinkedIn Help pages still say free accounts get 5 personal notes a month. The newest page (2026) says 3.

What happens when you hit the limit?

LinkedIn blocks new invitations for a while. According to its Help Center, the restriction "typically lasts one week", LinkedIn "cannot remove or shorten the wait period", and withdrawing pending invitations won't lift it (LinkedIn Help).

How long you wait depends on what triggered it:

  • First restriction: a few hours
  • Several restrictions in one day: a few days
  • Too many outstanding invitations: up to one month

LinkedIn also warns that if it suspects an automation tool, it "may suspend or restrict your account", and that repeated suspensions can become permanent. More on that in LinkedIn account restricted.

Is there a message limit?

Yes, but again unpublished. LinkedIn only says it limits "how many messages a member can send in a certain time period" (LinkedIn Help). You can message 1st-degree connections for free; anyone else needs InMail, an Open Profile or a shared group. See InMail vs messages vs Open Profile.

How to stay under the limit

  1. Aim for about 20 a day on a free account. Five working days × 20 = 100 a week.
  2. Clean up pending invitations. Too many outstanding invitations is one of the listed triggers. Withdraw ones older than a few weeks.
  3. Invite people likely to accept. Ignored and "I don't know this person" responses count against you. Post engagers, shared groups and 2nd-degree connections accept far more often.
  4. Use your 3 free notes wisely, or skip notes and follow up after they accept. See our connection request templates.
  5. Spread requests through the day. A burst of 50 in ten minutes looks nothing like a person.

In Wingflow you set a daily invitation cap per LinkedIn account (up to 30 a day, or 80 with Premium) and choose working days and hours. For a free account, set the cap so your weekly total stays near 100.

Questions

How many connection requests can I send per week on LinkedIn?

LinkedIn doesn't publish a number. Practitioners consistently report a limit of around 100 a week for free and Premium accounts, sometimes higher on Sales Navigator.

Does LinkedIn Premium increase the connection request limit?

No. LinkedIn says all members, Basic and Premium, are subject to invitation limits. Premium gives you unlimited personal notes of up to 300 characters, not more invitations.

How long does a LinkedIn invitation restriction last?

LinkedIn says it typically lasts one week and can't be shortened. Withdrawing pending invitations doesn't remove it.

What is the maximum number of LinkedIn connections?

30,000 first-degree connections. After that you can't send or accept invitations unless you remove some. Followers are unlimited.

How soon can I re-invite someone after withdrawing?

LinkedIn says you won't be able to invite the same person again for up to three weeks.
